In October 2016 we set up an exhibition of 22 large format images of the solar system, that we had originally printed to take part in the NASA ‘From Earth to the solar system’project in 2009. The exhibition was mounted in a display centre at the municipal building in Moraira on the Costa Blanca. The displays were augmented by additional smaller format displays explaining the New Horizons mission to Pluto and the Rosetta mission to comet 67P. A further addition was a distance scale on the floor of the hall showing the relative distances of the planets from the sun.
The exhibition was held over a two week period and judging from the visitors book was very well attended. Two local schools decided to send classes to the exhibition and we also offered to run a film about the moons of the solar system in the theatre below the exhibition hall. One of the groups was 120 strong with children ranging from 6 years to 12 years old. We were able to answer to questions they raised at the end of the film. Below are a few of the pictures taken of the event.
