FETTSS Project

The FETTSS project is an initiative by NASA to get high quality photographs of the Solar System on show across the world. Whilst NASA provides the photos local organisations have to raise the funds and stage the exhibitions.

We have been working through the summer to stage this event on the Costa Blanca.

We have secured agreement to use the Portal De La Marina shopping mall to host the exhibition and the manager there has designated 5 different locations that we can use at no charge. He is also  assisting us with approaching some of the shops in the centre for sponsorship.

Frank and Brian have gone through the pictures available from NASA and Frank has put forward a presentation style list of possible selections, that we will now discuss and agree upon. Our next step is to find sponsors who would be willing to fund one or more pictures. They will cost 100 euros per square metre of picture, which is mounted on hardboard for durability. An A0 size is about a square meter and we will have some pictures half that size. So the minimum contribution we are looking for would be 50 euros for a smaller picture. How much sponsorship we get will determine to some degree how many pictures we can produce and therefore how extensive the exhibition will be. The plan is to hold the exhibition in the first week of December. We could potentially take it elsewhere afterwards, and/or visit schools .

We also have the option to use the cinema at the centre in the mornings to show some relevant video. We will need to staff the exhibition at certain times, perhaps with some help from our Spanish counterparts.

If anyone would like to volunteer to join to team or help out at the exhibition itself, please contact Christine.
